The 3 Greek Sisters Return Home
A Culinary Journey of the Peloponnese.


May 8-19, 2015.

Please join the 3 Greek Sisters, Betty, Eleni and Samantha of Cookbook and Cooking Class fame  (www.3greeksisters.com ) on a return to their home territory on the west coast of the Peleponnese.

This 11 day trip will include cooking workshops as well as various excursions focusing on the food and culture of this area of Greece.



Arrive in Athens and, after airport pick-up, stop at the famous Corinth Canal on your way to Kalo Nero, where you will stay for 9 nights at the beachfront Hotel Messina Mare.  Unpack and relax.    Enjoy a Welcome Dinner.




The following day take part in a cooking workshop and visit Kyparissia for a walk-about of the old town and dinner.




Next up is a full day visit to Ancient Olympia with a picnic lunch, a winery visit and dinner before returning to Kalo Nero.


Enjoy a day long outing on the water with many possibilities. 




Have a leisurely morning followed by an afternoon cooking workshop with dinner to follow.


Spend a day in Sparta and visit the impressive Byzantine ruins of Mystras, as well you will go to the Olive Oil Museum.  Lunch and some time for shopping and the day is done.




Take a morning drive to Gialova where you will tour an olive oil soap-making facility with free time in the afternoon before dinner with a seafood cooking demo.


After a morning at leisure, drive to the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae.  Continue to picturesque Andretsina for dinner.




Before getting ready to go home, experience a truly typical traditional day on the west coast of the Peleponnese.  Start at the market at Kopanaki and in the afternoon proceed to Kouvela village, the ancestral home of the Three Greek Sisters.  Go on an oregano picking expedition before having evening drinks and dinner at their house.  This will be followed by music and dancing.  Opa!!!





Depart for Athens the following day, stopping at the lovely town of Napflio for lunch, and carrying on to your hotel near the Athens airport for an overnight before your flight the following day.

Please join me on this 15 day, small group trip to an island rich in history, packed with the remains of civilizations long past.



Our journey begins in Palermo, with its Norman Palace and Palatine Chapel containing stunning mosaics.


We will drive up to Monreale, overlooking Palermo, and visit the Cathedral and enjoy the views of the surrounding valley.


From Palermo we travel to Marsala, stopping on the way to visit Segesta, with its Doric Temple, and Erice, a mountaintop village.



In Marsala we will enjoy a day at leisure as well as touring the local area including a visit to a winery in the Trapani/ Marsala area for a tasting and light lunch.  We will carry on to Mazara del Vallo for a panoramic tour before stopping at Selinunte to visit its archaeological park.



From here we continue to Agrigento where we will visit the Valley of the Temples.


An early departure from Agrigento will take us to Noto.  En  route we will pay a 2 hour visit to Casale Romano in Piazza Armerina , an imposing Roman Villa.  We will also stop at Modica, famous for its baroque style and the tradition of chocolate making, for a typical lunch.


In Noto we will have a day at leisure to explore on our own this colourful village, a World Heritage Site due to its masterpieces of Sicilian baroque Style.

We then proceed to Siracusa with its famous archaeological park and the most ancient  area called Ortigia, linked by a natural bridge.  We will pause here for a day at leisure and to do some shopping.




To conclude our trip we will proceed to Taormina and stay at the beach resort area called Giardini Naxos.


  We will have a ½ day tour of Taormina that will visit the Greek Theatre.  An optional ½ day tour to Mt. Etna will be available to complete the day or leisure time.


  We will also enjoy a full day excursion to the volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea called the Aeolian Islands, visiting Vulcano and Lipari.  A World Heritage site, it is described by Lonely Planet as a place of extraordinary natural beauty.
